Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent requested Home and Senate Republicans on Thursday to scrap the “revenge tax” on overseas investments from their variations of President Trump’s sweeping tax invoice.
In a submit on the social platform X, Bessent stated he requested GOP lawmakers to strike Part 899, which might have imposed a tax of as much as 20 p.c on investments from international locations with financial insurance policies deemed unfair to U.S. companies, from their laws.
Bessent stated the supply was not essential after the U.S. and its companions within the G7 reached a “joint understanding … that defends American interests.”
