    President Trump on Thursday referred to as for Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan to resign, arguing he’s “highly conflicted.” 

    “The CEO of INTEL is highly CONFLICTED and must resign, immediately,” he wrote on Fact Social. “There is no other solution to this problem. Thank you for your attention to this problem!” 

    Whereas he provided few particulars about his name for Tan to step apart, Trump’s put up comes after Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) wrote to the semiconductor agency on Tuesday about considerations with the CEO’s ties to China. 

    Reuters reported earlier this 12 months that the Intel govt had investments in tons of of Chinese language tech corporations, a minimum of eight of which have ties to the Chinese language army.  

    Cotton additionally voiced considerations Tuesday about his earlier function as CEO of Cadence Design Methods, which pleaded responsible and paid $140 million final month for violating export controls by promoting chip design know-how to a Chinese language army college.   

    “Intel is required to be a responsible steward of American taxpayer dollars and to comply with applicable security regulations,” the Arkansas senator wrote, underscoring the practically $8 billion that Intel obtained as a part of the CHIPS and Science Act. 

    “Mr. Tan’s associations raise questions about Intel’s ability to fulfill these obligations,” he added. 

    Intel’s inventory dropped 2 % in after-hours buying and selling following Trump’s name for Tan to resign.
