    European Union officers warned on Monday that countermeasures are nonetheless on the desk if they can not attain a commerce cope with america to keep away from the 30 % tariffs that President Trump introduced over the weekend would take impact on Aug. 1.

    The EU’s commerce consultant, Maroš Šefčovič, informed reporters that negotiations would proceed Monday and stated he’s “absolutely 100 percent sure that a negotiated solution is much better than the tension which we might have after the 1st of August.”

    However, he added, “we must be prepared for all outcomes.”

    “I cannot imagine walking away without genuine effort,” Šefčovič stated. “Having said that, the current uncertainty caused by unjustified tariffs cannot persist indefinitely and therefore we must prepare for all outcomes, including, if necessary, well-considered proportionate countermeasures to restore the balance in our transit-static relationship.”

    Trump on Saturday introduced his administration would levy a 30 % tariff on items from Mexico and members of the European Union starting Aug. 1, concentrating on two of America’s high buying and selling companions.

    He posted two separate letters addressed to leaders of the respective buying and selling companions to Reality Social. In his letter to European Fee President Ursula von der Leyen, Trump repeated issues he has expressed prior to now, claiming the European Union has lengthy been unfair to the U.S. and that the bloc of countries was created to “screw” America.
