President Trump mentioned he’ll start negotiations with China a few potential deal relating to the favored video-sharing platform TikTok this upcoming week.
“We pretty much have a deal. I think we are gonna start Monday or Tuesday asking, talking to China, perhaps President Xi [Jinping] or one of his representatives, but we pretty much have a deal,” Trump informed reporters late Friday on Air Power One.
The president mentioned his administration will “probably” need to get the deal authorized by China.
“Not definitely, but probably,” he mentioned.
Trump signed an government order in mid-June to increase the deadline for the social media platform to divest from the China-based guardian firm, ByteDance, for 90 days. The brand new deadline was set for Sept. 17.
It was the third extension that Trump signed since returning to the White Home in January. The order directed the Justice Division to not implement the legislation or impose penalties associated to the laws.
