President Trump on Wednesday declared New York “saved” after his administration introduced it will rescind the Biden-era approval of a congestion pricing plan.

“CONGESTION PRICING IS DEAD. Manhattan, and all of New York, is SAVED.” Trump posted to his Fact Social. “LONG LIVE THE KING!”

The transfer pulls again a toll charging $9 for drivers to enter a part of Manhattan, a plan that New York Metropolis and state officers had touted as decreasing visitors and air air pollution, whereas opponents argued it overburdened commuters.

“New York State’s congestion pricing plan is a slap in the face to working class Americans and small business owners,” Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy mentioned in a press release. “Every American should be able to access New York City regardless of their economic means. It shouldn’t be reserved for an elite few.”

Trump’s added name of “long live the king,” which was reshared on the social platform X by White Home press secretary Karoline Leavitt, comes simply after protesters rallied in cities throughout the nation on Monday, dubbing the Presidents Day vacation as “No Kings Day.” Demonstrations befell in Washington, D.C., and New York Metropolis, amongst different locations.

Opponents used the event to push again in opposition to Trump’s barrage of govt actions and tech billionaire Elon Musk’s efforts to slash the dimensions of the federal authorities.

“America has no king. Trump and his wealthy cronies are undermining the Constitution and rule of law to tear apart our democratic institutions and communities,” reads a information from Construct the Resistance, one of many organizers behind the 50501 Motion’s day of motion.
